The obverse design of the Indian Head $10 Gold Eagle coin shows Lady Liberty wearing a feathered Native American headdress as had been requested by the president. Above her head is an arc of thirteen stars representing the thirteen original states of the United States.
The reverse design of the original 1907 Indian Head $10 Gold Eagle coin shows a perched eagle with wings folded standing on a bundle of arrows wrapped in an olive branch. The inscription “United States of America” is above the eagle along the rim, and the denomination “Ten Dollars” shows at the bottom of the design. To the right of the eagle is the inscription “E Pluribus Unum,” which is Latin for, “Of Many, One,” speaking of the unity of the states.
