1oz American Gold Buffalo in Original Government Mint Sheets!
The American $50 Buffalo, also known as the Gold Buffalo, is a 24-karat 1 oz gold bullion coin, first offered for sale by the United States Mint on June 22, 2006. Prior to this, the only gold bullion coin was the American Gold Eagle which is 22-karats, with an alloy of silver and copper providing added wear-resistance. Realizing a demand for a 24-karat gold coin, the U.S. mint authorized the Gold Buffalo.
The design of the American Buffalo is a modified version of the noted Buffalo nickel designed by James Earle Fraser, and first issued in early 1913. The obverse of the coin depicts a Native American profile, and the reverse features an American Buffalo, also known as a bison.
The American Gold Buffalo weighs 31.108 grams, has a diameter of 32.7mm., and a thickness of 2.95mm. The edges are reeded. We are happy to offer American Gold Buffalos encased in the orignal government mint sheets from the U.S. Mint. The coins are shipped in sheets of 20 from the U.S. Mint.
