The Libertad has replaced the Centenario as Mexico’s most popular coin, and this 2011 edition doesn’t disappoint. It continues the legacy of excellence that first begins in 1982, and due to their low mintage they are high in demand among collectors both within and outside of Mexico.
Coin Design Highlights
Each 2011 Libertad is comprised of a single ounce of fine silver with a purity of 99.9 percent. Due to their eligibility for precious metals Individual Retirement Accounts they are sought after by many investors. Mintages for this coin have been limited to only 1,200,000, which means they will become harder to find in the future with prices rising accordingly.
The coin’s obverse side depicts a relief of Mexico’s National Shield, along with the inscription “Estados Unidos Mexicanos” with various coats of arms that have been used throughout Mexico’s history. The reverse side displays the Winged Statue of Victory along with two volcanoes, the Iztaccihuatl and Popocatepetl.
