It has been a quarter of a century since the Perth Mint first introduced the silver Kookaburra. This 2015 edition was released to celebrate this anniversary and uses a design very similar to the 1990 release. It also includes a privy mark which commemorates the Year of the Goat.
This coin is comprised of one ounce of fine silver with 99.9 percent purity. It can be used for Individual Retirement Accounts and the reverse side displays an image of a Kookaburra resting on the stump of a tree with eucalyptus leaves and a fern surrounding it. Upon closer inspection one can see a small privy of a goat near the Kookaburra’s beak. The Kookaburra is a bird native to Australia and the goat is one of the 12 animals which comprise the Chinese Zodiac. Those who are born during the Year of the Goat are said to embody characteristics which are associated with this animal. This coin is stunning in its detail and craftsmanship.
