The Shenzhen-Guobao Mint of China has released the 2015 edition of its acclaimed Gold Panda coin series. Since its original release in 1982, the Chinese Gold Panda Coin has become one of the most recognized pieces of currency, both in China and across the globe.
This set is composed of five coins (1oz, 1/2oz, 1/4oz, 1/10oz and 1/20oz) that are all .999 fine gold with legal tender face value. The one ounce coin measures 32 mm in diameter and 2.70 mm in thickness.
These coins are available in brilliant uncirculated condition, encased in either a sealed protective coin capsule or sheets of 30 coins.
Prominently featured on the obverse of the coin will be China’s beloved panda. The design on the 2015 coin is similar to last year’s issue, featuring a single panda bear, however the weight and purity are absent from the coin’s face.
From the texture of the pandas’ soft fur to the details of their natural habitat, the Shenzhen-Guobao Mint of China has always rendered their designs with an exceptional degree of detail and will undoubtedly deliver the same level of artistry in this new design. Also inscribed on the obverse of the coin will be its denomination. The reverse side of the coin transports viewers from the pandas’ native habitat to the city of Beijing, with an uncanny rendition of China’s celebrated Temple of Heaven. This stunning replica captures every major architectural element of this religious landmark, including its three-tiered gable. Encircling this sacred temple is border of text, inscribed with the phrase, “People’s Republic of China” in Chinese and the mintage year of the coin.
With its inspired tribute to China’s natural and man-made wonders, the 2015 1 oz Chinese Gold Panda Coin is certain to enhance any existing collection. Feel free to browse our full selection of Chinese Gold Pandas for more sizes and years of these coins.
