First time ever the Chinese Mint has minted 50 gram Chinese Proof Gold Panda !

Limited to only 20,000 pieces!

Chinese Panda coins are highly anticipated yearly releases from the Chinese Mint. Available in silver and gold, with bullion and proof versions, these coins are the official bullion products of the People’s Republic of China. The 2016 50 Gram Proof Chinese Gold Panda Coin are now available for purchase through LPM.

For the 2016 release of the Chinese Panda coin, in both silver and gold, the Chinese Mint has made a significant change. Chinese Gold Panda and Silver Panda coins will no longer feature weights measured in Troy ounces. Bucking the international standard, the mint release the coins in Grams to bring the markings in line with the nation’s metric system.

The 2016 50 Gram Chinese Gold Panda coin available to you in this product listing is a proof specimen, with fine edges and brilliant design features. The panda is an unofficial emblem of the People’s Republic of China, and the native species is found throughout the central and western moutainous regions of China.

You’ll find the latest panda design on the obverse face of these coins. An adult panda is featured clinging to a fallen tree trunk above a small body of water. Engravings on this side include the Chinese symbol for panda, and the coin’s weight, metal content, and purity. The reverse depicts the Temple of Heaven as viewed from the outside. The temple has stood in Beijing since the mid-1500s, and has long served as a place of sacrifice and, later, worship among Chinese people.

The Chinese Mint is overseen by the People’s Bank of China, and has the responsibility of producing circulation coins and banknotes in addition to bullion and proof coins. Please feel free to reach out to LPM with any questions you might have about these coins.
