The Queen’s Beasts appeared together for the first time in 1953 as sculptures at the coronation of Her Majesty The Queen. This year, we celebrate the 65th anniversary of that historic event, and with only 700 coins available, now is your chance to own this unique piece of British heritage.
Since the fifteenth century, The Black Bull of Clarence has been used as a symbol of power and might. The majestic bull is associated with Edward IV, who became the first Yorkist King of England in 1461, and it is thought that his army displayed the creature on their shields during battle. The first appearance of the bull on the Royal Arms and on coins dates back to the 1560s when Elizabeth I ordered the recoinage of all silver coins.
