2019 1 oz Britain Queen’s Beasts -The Black Bull of Clarence .9995 Platinum Coin (Scarches)
The Royal Mint is excited to add a new bullion coin to The Queen’s Beasts Collection. Inspired by ancient symbols of power and identity, the range brings to life the ten imposing statues that lined the entrance to Westminster Abbey in 1953 at the coronation of Her Majesty The Queen.
The Black Bull of Clarence is associated with the rise of the House of York during the fifteenth century. It was adopted as a heraldic symbol by Edward IV, the first Yorkist king and a key protagonist in the Wars of the Roses. The bull first appeared on the Royal Arms during the reign of Elizabeth I, when she ordered the recoinage of all silver coins.
Following the success of previous coins featuring the Black Bull of Clarence, this platinum one-ounce edition features the same original design by Jody Clark.
This bullion coin from The Queen’s Beasts Collection is also available as a gold one ounce and quarter-ounce edition and a silver ten-ounce and two-ounce edition.
Features of the coin:
- An exclusive bullion coin from The Royal Mint’s Queen’s Beasts Collection
- Minted in 999.5 platinum to bullion standard
- The coin’s obverse and reverse have been created by Royal Mint coin designer Jody Clark
- Struck by The Royal Mint, the home of every official United Kingdom coin struck during Her Majesty The Queen’s reign
