Viewed as one of the greatest rulers of all times, Alexander became king of Macedonia and Greece at the age of 20 after the death of his father, King Philip II. Although he is most remembered for his military strategies, which are still studied in military colleges today, his greatness was really in his humanity and understanding of the role of a leader. This trait can be directly traced to his studies as a young teen under the famous Greek philosopher, Aristotle.
His legacy lived on after his death through the coins of the region. To this day, Alexander coins are collected around the world for their beauty and for the significance of this young leader in world history.
