The People’s Bank of China is to issue 2022 New Year Celebration Gold and Silver Commemorative Coins from 21st December, 2021. The set consists of 3 coins, including one gold coin, one silver coin, and one two-color copper alloy coin. All coins are legal tender of the People’s Republic of China.

Design of the Coins 

Obverse Design

Each coin in the set bears the common obverse design featuring the emblem of PRC, the title of PRC and the year date 2022.

Reverse Design

The 1g round commemorative gold coin depicts the Chinese character fú written by Wen Zhengming, a famous calligrapher of the Ming Dynasty, accompanied with Chinese window lattices, plum blossoms, eaves and the face value.

The 8g round commemorative silver coin depicts the Chinese character fú written by Wen Zhengming, a famous calligrapher of the Ming Dynasty, accompanied with Chinese window lattices, a traditional paper-cut, magpies, plum blossoms, eaves and the face value.

Specification and Mintage of the Coins

The 1g round commemorative gold coin, is proof coin, has diameter of 10mm, face value of 10 yuan, and contains 1 grams of 99.9% pure gold. The maximum mintage is 100000 pieces.

The 8g round commemorative silver coin, is proof coin, has diameter of 25mm, face value of 3 yuan, and contains 8 grams of 99.9% pure silver. The maximum mintage is 2000000 pieces.
