The "African Ounce" is a bullion silver coin issued yearly with a changing design presenting African Wildlife. The series began in 2008 and has become a sought after "semi numismatic" bullion coin. The series popularity is due to the great designs which change yearly and a limited mintage.

The 2019 design features the Shoebill on the reverse in front of a topographic maple of the African continent.

The obverse carries the same design as previous years of the National Seal of Rwanda.
